This phrase used to hold so much...power at one point but I am finding that when it comes to the mundane 'go to work' folk people have lost their 'fight.'

There was a time where people stood up for themselves and others at work but noticing that because of fear it has dissipated over time. Fear of losing your job, fear of not moving up the food chain, fear of failure altogether.
When did we turn from being feared to fearful at work? The easy answer is the pandemic and believe me I know all too well about that situation. I do, however, believe that it started before the pandemic and the world shut down was the final nail in the coffin.
For over 24 years I had worked in some capacity with either reporting to or having people reporting to me. Do you know the only time during that tenure where everything clicked for everyone? (Financially, Awards, Attitude, Teamwork). When everyone was fearless.
How did that happen? Well, it started when I assured my team (and believe me it took a LOT of reassuring) that I had their back no matter what. (That's what true leaders do and there are a few out there. I know them personally.)
When we established that I would do anything for them and we could do this...guess what? We did.
Guess why? No fear. Zero fear.
Easier said that done you say? I have a few simple ideas on how to do this but that's for another day and if you do want more send me a note so we can speak about it.
Until then "Elvis was a hero to most be he never meant...."
