Ever wonder why we all end up revisiting the same issues over the course of our life?

Noam Chomsky had this interesting quote - “That’s the whole point of good propaganda. You want to create a slogan that nobody’s going to be against, and everybody’s going to be for. Nobody knows what it means, because it doesn’t mean anything.”

Media outlets (and companies) have been feeding us lines over the years that are obvious and we all nod our head at them. If we don't agree we find a spot where we do agree with others but ultimately we aren't all heading in the same direction.

What does it mean when a company 'supports' rights? Does it mean anything? They invest some of their profits to the cause to distract you from the other things they are up to. Not saying they are always nefarious but also not saying they are holding themselves accountable to how they could change. When they do something that shows a step in the right direction...you will hear about it. Don't worry about that. You will hear about it over and over again. You won't hear how long it took them or the toll it took on the workforce or environment to get there but you will hear about the plus side of their change.

All this to say...don't get lulled into the constant barrage of 'i'm so proud to be part of' act. There is always more to the story so before you back a product, company, service...let the tranquilizer wear off first and see what's really there.
