"I want it now!!!!" You might not actually say that out loud but in your mind you probably do it more often than you think. There's a term that not often used....
Hyperbolic Discounting.
Your decision making process changes when your emotions are heightened and that happens when the reward is closer to you. The closer the reward is the higher your emotional interest is. If you could get something right away would you wait or would you leap at the chance? Which would you choose and why? Do you even know why? Do you have the patience to make a thoughtful decision?
Patience is indeed a virtue that we've all lost sight on. With age (sometimes)we develop a better sense of self control and we can delay rewards but not always.
Apply this thought process to business. Just because you can get a great sale immediately doesn't necessarily mean that your long term strategy is going to come through. Make sure that your vision is in tact when trying to fulfill your business needs. Instantaneous rewards are just that....fleeting. Don't get caught up in the web of 'immediacy'.

Make sure your direction remains the same throughout and just because the shiny object is within grasp don't become victim to it.
This is not to say that you are to never take advantage of immediate rewards. There are scenarios where developing business must do this but the more reliant on this type of behaviour the weaker your foundation will be built on. You can't grow with a weak foundation. You can sustain anything with a weak foundation.
So take a moment before you take a leap....just to make sure.
