If you’ve ever been to a therapist (I have a number of times) you’ll be asked to do a lot of introspection.

What if you were to look at your business as a ‘person’ what would a therapist ask him? (we’re going to use male for this business because...whatever….sorry)

A typical introductory question might be;

"Why are you seeking therapy at this time?"

The answer could be you want to look at changing things, you're not doing as well as you think you should, you're looking to get a better understanding of where you are at...and so on.

"What do you expect from therapy?

Do you expect generate more revenue? Have better communication? Have stronger messaging in the market?

"How is your relationship with your family?"

Your family is your colleagues, your competitors, your industry. Discover what your relationship is like with all of them.

"How do you cope with stress?"

When your business is not performing to the standards you expect do you create an uncomfortable environment? Micromanage? Do you lay the hammer down?

Therapy has (thankfully) become less stigmatized over the years for people and I strongly encourage it but business therapy should take the hint from personal therapy.

There's no reason a business shouldn't take a strong introspective look into their own life.

Take the time to deconstruct your business and if time is an issue find a way to hire someone to walk you through it. Therapy is muscle building for the mind and everyone and every business needs it.
