Many leaders have been chosen based on unflinching predicability and a stoic way about them. This is great if you want to live in the past.
Today we need creativity and flexibility.

Creativity as a leader in terms of smart and strong willed enough to persuade people but flexible to think differently and admit when they are wrong.
Researchers started playing with a concept called "intellectual humility". Why some people cling to beliefs even when presented with evidence that shows they should abandon them and why others quickly adopt new beliefs.
The balance of intellectual humility les between the two. The willingness to change with the wisdom to know when you shouldn't.
Psychologists broke down the concept into four components:
Having respect for other viewpoints
Not being intellectually overconfident
Separating one's ego from one's intellect
Willingness to revise one's own viewpoint

You can be open to changing your mind but if you're never curious enough to listen to other viewpoints...you aren't really that open minded.
Take these four points and remind yourself to attempt this when you are communicating with others at work or at home or...anywhere for that matter.
Humility is not just an "awww shucks" attitude, it's about having the strength to be open.
