I could write a sentence that could cause you to be disgusted, make you laugh, be confused, feel sad....almost any emotion could come out of....words.

Words can be used as weapons.

So if we are all aware of this why don't we take more time and effort into making words less harmful. Hell....why don't we make them actually...useful?

If you were to truly grasp the power of words, phrases, sentences you could change almost every facet of your day to day.

You could deescalate an issue by just using the right words. You could convince someone by a perfectly placed word.

Take some time to formulate what you write or say because it can definitely be used as an advantage but if you're not careful you can cause collateral damage.

There's a flip side to this as well.

How you listen or read the words plays into your formulation of wording. If you intake certain words with a level of animosity or negativity your response might be the same. That's why it's important to listen impartially.

Remove yourself from the person and just hear the words so that you can fully understand what they mean. If you equate certain words with certain people you will be in a never ending loop of poor communication. An echo chamber!

In order to avoid a never ending loop allow yourself the opportunity to view the conversation 'outside' of the players in it. This does not happen overnight as your thoughts will always go to predisposed feelings but see if you can start...today.

Take your communicating skills to the next level and make sure that you're aware of effective phrases, words and structure so that you don't end up in a quagmire of a poor choice of words.
